Magic comes at a high price – and Rain is prepared to pay it. When a storm brews over the city of Ravenport, sheuses her forbidden abilities to gather lightning. She had to sacrifice one of her senses, but that way she is able to keep herself and her brother alive. At least, until he is arrested by soldiers of the cold-blooded ruler. To save him, Rain gathers a group of rebels around her. Among them is the soldier and fog fighter Kite, who takes them by storm with his inscrutable manner. But then Ravenport’s streets go up in flames – Rain’s rescue mission has turned into a violent riot. Now she must determine her real enemy: the ruler who took her brother or the very rebel army they built. Because if she doesn’t, one of them will blow up the city they call home.
